CWF Celebrates Christmas at Country Club

As a special treat, the December General Meting and Installation of Officers, occurred at the New Bern Golf & Country Club on December 13. More than forty women participated in this fun event with Rev. Mary Ann Koffenberger providing a program.

On Sunday, Nov. 13, immediately after worship, the CWF sold cakes, pies and other goodies to ensure they could fully fund the Disiciples Mission Fund pledge by the end of the year. The sale was a success and reason to celebrate in December!!

Blue Christmas Service of Memory and Hope

Rev. Teddi Therkildsen (RN and M.Div.) led a special worship service on 12/7 for people feeling blue about the holidays. Everyone who attended experienced a moving and meaningful service of light and love.

Church Celebrates Senior Pastor’s Fourth Anniversary

On July 24, 2016, the church celebrated Dr. Johnson’s fourth anniversary with a salad lunch immediately following the worship service.

Dr. Johnson responded with the following message in the church newsletter.

Thank you for making me and Allen feel special as we complete our fourth year with you and begin our fifth year. We enjoyed the beautifully decorated and delicious salad luncheon. The collage of portraits bear witness to the joy of this ministry in New Bern. Thanks most of all for your love.

Pamlico District Union Meeting Report

The union met for the first time in 2015 at Bethany Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Arapahoe. After greetings, the Bethany Christian Church Bell choir played Awesome God and Mary Did You Know.

Eight churches sent representatives with six coming from Broad Street. The churches provided reports and updates about their current events and ministries.

We received a thank you letter from Barton College for the $1000 donation, and a report from Dr. Robert Caton that the school used the money to renovate the science hall and President’s home. The Union voted to send an additional $500 for the scholarship.

We need district coordinators for CWF, CYF, and CMF.

The Pamlico District Union paid for all ten churches in the district to be listed in the 2015 Places to Worship advertisement. The Pamlico Heritage Center is soliciting pictures of churches.

Rev. Dr. Robert Caton preached a message from Hebrews 6:1-3 advising Christians to grow into maturity and b the people God has called us to be.

Following the Lord’s Supper, attendees enjoyed a meal prepared by the host church in the Bethany Fellowship Hall.

The next meeting will be July 11 at Camp Caroline. The meeting will begin at 10 am. Following the meal, we will have our business session and a program. Wear comfortable clothes and bring youth.

The third scheduled meeting will be at Broad Street Christian Church on November 14. This meeting will include training workshops.
